Web Tech - Wordpress Safety: Don't Panic!

It was Monday morning and I was on a call with a dozen others who are my peers. Each of us helps the small business owner with their businesses in one way or the other. It was at the end of the call and we were each sharing our websites and going over how to make little improvements here and there. Time was running out and there was just enough time for one more website review, I volunteered. As my site was coming up for all to see suddenly the screen turned a maroon red with an outline of a security officer with his hand stretched out and the words of"do not precede malware threat." I was horrified to remember precisely what it said although there was more. I was concerned about my site that I had spent hours on being ruined plus humiliated that the people on the telephone had seen me vulnerable.

I back my blogs using a free plugin WP DB Backup up. If anything happens I can restore my blog to the settings. I use WP Security Scan plugin that is free to scan my site frequently and suspicious-looking asks to be blocked by WordPress Firewall to fix hacked wordpress.

No software system is resistant to vulnerabilities and bugs. Security holes will be found and guys will do their best to exploit them. Keeping your software up-to-date is a fantastic way once security holes are found, because their products will be fixed by reliable software vendors.

You must create a new user before you can delete the default admin account. To do this go to your WordPress Dashboard and click on User -> Create New User. Then enter all of the information you will need to enter.

Can you see that folder Imagine if you go to WP-Content/plugins? If so, upload this blank Index.html file inside that folder as well so people can't see what plugins you might have. Someone can use that to get access because if your version of WordPress is up to date, if you're using a plugin or an old plugin with a security hole.

There are always going to be risks being online (or even just being alive!) Also it's easy to get caught up in the go panic. When we get caught up in the panic, we often put the breaks on. This isn't a reaction that is fantastic. Just take some common sense precautions, then forge ahead. If something bad does happen, it will have to be dealt with then and of quaking in your boots 23, no amount will have helped. If nothing does, all is good and you have not made yourself ill with worry.
